Helping Landowners Plan & Implement Good Fire

Helping Landowners Plan & Implement Good Fire

The More Good Fire Program (www.good-fire.org), led by the Healthy Forest Alliance Foundation, is designed to help property owners confidently plan and implement prescribed fire on their land. Our approach is practical, landowner-centered, and rooted in professional burn boss leadership—bringing structure, safety, and experience to every project.

We are especially active in Amador County, El Dorado County, Placer County, Sierra County, and Nevada County—fire-adapted regions of the Sierra Nevada where proactive fuels management is critical. These counties have experienced significant wildfire impacts and increasing fuel accumulation. Reintroducing well-planned, low- to moderate-intensity fire is essential to restoring ecological balance and reducing future wildfire severity.

Through the More Good Fire Program, we assist landowners with:

  • Property assessments and fuel evaluations

  • Burn plan development and prescription design

  • Permitting coordination and compliance guidance

  • Weather monitoring and go/no-go decision support

  • Crew organization and operational supervision

  • Full implementation of prescribed fire projects

Whether the objective is defensible space, forest health, wildlife habitat improvement, or long-term wildfire resilience, our team works directly with landowners to define goals and implement them safely.

By combining local knowledge with nationally aligned fire training standards, we ensure every burn is structured, documented, and professionally managed. Landowners gain both technical expertise and peace of mind—knowing their project is being implemented responsibly.

In Amador, El Dorado, Placer, Sierra, and Nevada Counties, the More Good Fire Program is helping communities shift from reactive wildfire recovery to proactive land stewardship.
