Healthy Forest Alliance Foundation Purchases Prescribed Fire Training and Implementation Trailer with $85,000 in Equipment Support

Truckee, CA — The Healthy Forest Alliance Foundation (HFA) proudly announces the purchase of a fully equipped Prescribed Fire Training and Implementation Trailer, representing an $85,000 investment in prescribed fire equipment and operational capacity. The acquisition was made possible through the financial support of the Foundation’s Founder and Executive Director, Richard Carvalho.

The new trailer significantly expands the Foundation’s ability to deliver hands-on training, support community burn associations, and implement safe, science-based prescribed fire projects. Outfitted with professional-grade tools and equipment, the mobile unit is designed to deploy directly to training sites and active burn operations.

“This investment is about building long-term capacity,” said Carvalho. “Prescribed fire requires the right tools, the right training, and the right leadership. By investing in equipment infrastructure, we are strengthening the foundation for safe implementation and workforce development.”

The Prescribed Fire Training and Implementation Trailer includes:

  • Drip torches and ignition supplies

  • Wildland hand tools and firing equipment

  • Portable water handling and pump systems

  • Hose lays and fittings

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) caches

  • Weather monitoring instruments

  • Communications and safety equipment

The trailer will be used to support training courses, prescribed burn associations, workforce development programs, and cooperative burn projects. By maintaining a dedicated mobile cache, the Healthy Forest Alliance Foundation can reduce barriers to entry for emerging practitioners and local landowner groups while maintaining strong safety standards.

The investment reflects the Foundation’s broader mission to strengthen communities through good fire by expanding access to professional training, equipment resources, and implementation support. It also enhances the operational capabilities of the Good Fire Training Network and regional prescribed burn associations supported by the Foundation.

The Healthy Forest Alliance Foundation continues to invest in people, equipment, and partnerships that advance wildfire resilience and responsible land stewardship nationwide.
