"Empowering Excellence, Uniting Expertise: Igniting Tomorrow's Fire Practitioners"
PRESCRIBED FIRE EQUIPMENT & TRAILERS
ACCESS TO PROFESSIONAL-GRADE EQUIPMENT
Members and community burn partners gain access to fully stocked trailers equipped with essential prescribed fire tools — including drip torches, pumps, hose, hand tools, radios, and PPE. This ensures that even small PBAs, fire safe councils, or landowners can implement burns safely and effectively without the burden of purchasing everything on their own.
MOBILIZATION & SUPPORT FOR LOCAL BURNS
The program makes it easier to quickly mobilize for prescribed burns. Trailers are designed to be deployed at community projects, training events, and private lands, bringing fire-ready equipment wherever it’s needed. This reduces barriers for participation and helps build local prescribed fire capacity.
TRAINING & SAFETY INTEGRATION
Our equipment and trailer program is more than just a collection of tools—it is designed to ensure that every prescribed fire is conducted safely, effectively, and in alignment with national standards. When members access the trailer, they also gain the benefit of HFA-led training and technical support. This includes instruction on the proper use of pumps, hose-lays, radios, drip torches, and other specialized equipment.

HELP US IMPLEMENT “GOOD FIRE" IN OUR COMMUNITIES.
ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
The Healthy Forest Alliance (HFA) operates a comprehensive Prescribed Fire Training & Implementation Equipment and Trailer Program designed to expand community capacity for safe and effective prescribed fire. This program combines professional-grade tools, PPE, fire engines, UTVs, trailers, and safety gear into a mobile resource that directly supports both training events and live prescribed burn operations.
At the core of the program are our fully stocked trailers, which carry wildland fire hand tools, firing devices, hose, pumps, radios, PPE, and safety equipment such as medical kits, AEDs, helmets, and fire shelters. These trailers are deployed to training sites and burn projects, bringing everything needed to support safe ignition, holding, mop-up, and crew operations.
To complement the trailers, HFA maintains a fleet of Type 5 and Type 7 NWCG fire engines, UTVs with skid mount pumps, backpack pumps, and specialized support equipment. This ensures mobility and access to water and suppression capability across diverse terrain. We also provide communications equipment, including GSMR and BKR5000 radios, and planning tools such as Kestrel Fire Weather Kits to track real-time conditions.
The program also emphasizes safety and training integration. All equipment use is paired with guidance from experienced practitioners and instructors, ensuring participants not only have the tools but also the knowledge to use them properly in accordance with NWCG standards. This creates valuable opportunities for trainees to complete task book requirements, gain field experience, and build confidence in prescribed fire operations.
By reducing barriers to equipment access and pairing it with structured training, HFA strengthens community-led prescribed fire capacity, promotes safe operations, and supports landowners, PBAs, and fire safe councils in restoring healthy, resilient landscapes.
