Healthy Forest Alliance is seeking California State Certified Burn Bosses to assist with upcoming prescribed fire projects aimed at wildfire risk reduction and forest health improvement. The selected Burn Bosses will be responsible for overseeing prescribed burns, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and managing all aspects of burn operations in compliance with state and local regulations.
Scope of Work:
- Lead and manage prescribed fire operations, including planning, implementation, and monitoring.
- Ensure that all burn operations comply with California State Fire Regulations and local air quality standards.
- Oversee safety and coordination of burn teams, equipment, and resources.
- Develop and implement burn plans, including contingencies, for fire operations.
- Collaborate with local agencies, landowners, and stakeholders throughout the burn process.
- Provide post-burn assessments and documentation.
Qualifications:
Interested contractors must provide the following information to be considered for selection:
- California State Certification as a Burn Boss (or equivalent recognized certification).
- Proven experience as a Burn Boss leading prescribed fire operations.
- Knowledge of and experience with California wildfire regulations, air quality laws, and safety standards.
- Evidence of current fire qualifications (e.g., Single Resource Boss, Incident Commander).
- Proof of insurance (liability and workers' compensation).
- Ability to coordinate and work with other fire professionals, agencies, and stakeholders.
- At least three professional references from similar prescribed fire projects.
